Royalty Report 30th June – 6th July 2012

Much like the first two weeks of the season, there has been a considerable amount of rain, increased flow and levels than normally associated with this time of the year but it doesn’t seem to have dampened the anglers spirits from venturing out onto the fishery.

Like in previous weeks, we are hearing sitings and rumours of captures but are sadly not always told any details either directly to the tackle shop or via the email address of mail@davistackle.co.uk please do try and submit your reports and catch photos whenever you can, thank you.

Our weekly report starts off this week with the fantastic news that Andrew Dunk has been out fishing once again and reported the capture of a lovely 6lb cock fish from the Pipes area whilst using a red shrimp, well done Andrew, it’s great to see you back fishing.

Jez Brown enjoyed some late action on his rods whilst fishing the Trammels area of the fishery and reported what I believe to be our first reported Carp capture with a lovely common weighing in at 13lb 5oz. As dusk fell, Jez was called into action on another two occasions and his ledgered elixir paste tactics in and amongst the weed certainly paid off as he hooked a further two Barbel of 8lb 5oz and a double figure fish at 10lb 10oz. Fishing the same area of the fishery on the next evening and adopting the same approach, Jez again reported another double figure fish this time an even more impressive 12lb 3oz beauty. (Jez’s 4 photos)

A Mr Marshall (sorry we don’t have your first name) chose to fish the Boathouse pool swim and was able to temp a 5lb Barbel to take his ledgered meat bait.

With the increased flow, most anglers at present are adopting rolling meat tactics to catch their fish and Martin Kirkpatrick was no exception to the rule as he reported a double capture of fine fighting Barbel of 7lb 2oz and 8lb 6oz whilst our roving his way around the fishery.

Jim Northerner also had some success on the rolling meat method as he informed us of his capture of a lovely 7lb Barbel whilst also roving the fishery.

Visiting us from their Bright*n home Jeff Edisbury and his partner Kat enjoyed some fantastic sport whilst out rolling for the day, reporting the capture of a total of 7 fish between them to around the 9lb mark, well done to you both.

The Trammels area of the fishery seemed to again throw up a large proportion of the fish this week and using this knowledge Peter Harrison was able to catch by rolling some meat through the area and caugh a 5lb Barbel for his troubles.
