Since the last report I am pleased to be able to say that the sea trout have arrived in good numbers with excellent sport being enjoyed in the Bridge Pool, Compound and on the main river itself. The biggest sea trout reported weighed 8lb 2oz and was taken by local angler John Stack from the Pipes.

Another regular Peter Dexter also had a good sea trout in the same week landing one of 7lbs from Johnsons.

As mentioned earlier the Bridge Pool has been fishing very well with the best reported catch being 38 sea trout by Brian Goulding. Particularly pleasing was that 23 of these fish were taken on the fly with the remainder falling to worm. The average catch so far this season is just over 12 sea trout per day in this pool.

With the Spring tide occuring at the end of last week fingers were crossed that this tide might bring in a run of grilse, especially as they have been few and far between them over the last two summers. Happily they have arrived in reasonable numbers and four have been taken in the last couple of days. They are showing throughout the fishery with most of the regular lies having fish in them. With better water levels after the recent rain prospects for both salmon and sea trout appear better than they have been for some time.
