Davis Tackle

Since the last report we have experienced some wonderful sunny days but also a complete lack of rain. With this the water levels have dropped and the flows on the Royalty have slowed to where there seems to be a balance between water coming down Trammels and water coming through the Parlour. As a consequence we are once again seeing salmon moving through the Parlour rather than the majority going straight up the fishery to the Great Weir. Indeed as well as a number of salmon being spotted in the Parlour, there have now been two taken, both on the nymph from the head of the pool. The first was caught by Chris Pearson last Thursday and weighed approximately 14lb. Apparently Chris also raised another fish but unfortunately it turned and didn't take the fly.

Today Andrew Dunk fished the Parlour and landed a lovely salmon weighing 18lb on the nymph which gave an excellent account of itself. Both fish were fresh run cocks.

There are now a number of sea trout showing on the gravels around the Fishery but the majority of the anglers seem to be focusing on the salmon which is to be expected considering the slow start to the season on the Avon that they experienced!
