Royalty Fishery Report - 5th March 2009

E-mail Print

Despite yesterdays dreadful weather which saw only a handful of anglers on the Royalty the fishery continued to produce some quality barbel. Amongst those we have received reports from, the best catch went to Dennis Nye who managed to land a brace of 12 pounders with the best going 12lb 11oz. Another angler - whose name we unfortunately don't have - landed an eleven pounder which was witnessed by Dennis himself. Bert Careford managed another at 7lb 8oz and we also learned of a 9lb 8oz barbel taken by Mr Sargeant from just above Watersmeet on small boilies. Mr Sargeant also reported losing a much larger fish. Three smaller barbel were also reported along with a few small pike.

Dennis Nye with a finperfect 12lb 8oz barbel

Dennis Nye with his second double of the session weighing 12lb 11oz

The river is bank high, carrying a lovely colour and pushing through fast but the barbel are continuing to feed well. The conditions make the fishing challenging but very rewarding if you get it right.Hopefully the temperature wont fall too fast and the sport continues into the final week of the season.
