Royalty Fishery Report - February 2012

Guest Author Dave Basher

Reports are very short for February, mostly due to the really poor weather and lack of angling activity on the Royalty.

A fair few small Pike to low doubles were caught from the usual areas by those that ventured out in the grim conditions of cold air and low water levels, again most of these were caught on dead baits.

A couple of anglers fished the Top weir compound for a day and although they didn’t manage any Barbel they caught 2 Bream, a small Jack Pike and 2 little Grayling !

On one of the “not so cold” days there was a few Barbel caught and Alan Bulluck was one of the lucky few to catch. He managed to winkle out 4 Barbel at weights of 7lb 1oz, 9lb 2oz, 9lb 9oz and topped off with a stunning specimen of 11lb 4oz. All of Steve’s fish were caught on rolled meat and a roving approach. What a lovely bag of fish for February.

The biggest reported Barbel in February was caught by regular angler Trevor Ridley on rolled meat and weighed in at 12lb 10oz.
